Weapon Durability Changes Botw

I’m not a huge fan of Breath of the Wild as a game . I am, however, a humongous fan of Breath of the Wild as a world that exists on the Nintendo Switch and could be filled with Pokemon. Pokemon Legends: Arceus was supposed to be the delivery of ‘Pokemon but Breath of the Wild’, but it now seems to be more like ‘Pokemon but Monster Hunter: Rise’. That’s disappointing - Breath of the Wild is much closer to my hypothetical perfect Pokemon game than Monster Hunter - but it might just be for the b

One of the most lauded party games in recent memory, Overcooked brings all the stress and hecticness of a real kitchen environment directly into the player's living room . Players must work together to prepare meals for their guests, dealing with shifting environments and many, many ingredie

At the end of the day, eliminating weapon durability systems entirely would also eliminate a big portion of strategy and realism from numerous games. Thus, adapting systems that allow for ways to prevent weapons from breaking entirely would resolve most players’ frustrations, and is the best win-win scena

The premiere of The Witcher season two on Netflix this past winter spiked viewer anticipation for the series' direction and what it could bring to the franchise. For some of us, that means following the production of season three much more closely as it commenced, while for others it calls for yet another replay of The Witcher

As with any good PC game, a plethora of mods quickly began to surface including one that brings Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and Triss to the land of Valheim . Of course, these characters meld seamlessly into this ancient and mysterious land, and it's easy to see how a witcher might idle away a few months chasing off Greydwarfs rather than Drowners while cast and crew reassemble to bring us the witcher's next cinematic advent

But games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have gotten a lot of hate for its weapon durability setup. In Breath of the Wild, you go through weapons and shields extremely quickly, and they’re just broken and unusable once you’ve used them up. This game falls into that exact, problematic description that I’ve given above. Considering how great the rest of the game is, it’s unfortunate that so many people could not get past the durability sys

Yet, in most games, we don't even pay a second thought to why the characters don't need to eat to keep on going. Thankfully, there are some games out there where not only is food essential, but having the player prepare it is integral to the gameplay. Whether it's cracking up an egg or letting the NPCs do it for you, you won't get far without food h

Cooking Simulator really has two target demographics. Firstly, there's the group of people who will actually try to play the game properly. This means actually ordering the right ingredients, measuring them properly, and following the recipe as closely as possible in as fast a time as possible for the best score from the custo

If only the most visually stunning games with elaborate storytelling and rich lore can hold a candle to the void left in the absence of new Witcher content, then Horizon Zero Dawn will fill that void ten times over. Dominating the screen as the fiery heroine, Aloy will certainly scratch the itch for players who especially enjoy Ciri's story and playing a strong female r

I’ve wanted an open-world Pokemon game for as long as I can remember - longer than I can even put into words. I remember playing the very first Assassin’s Creed and thinking ‘I hope they put Pokemon on the PlayStation one of these days’. What a fool I was. What an absolute buffoon of a 14-year-old. But that was what appealed to me more than any gameplay conventions - can I get it on my TV. With the Switch and the likes of Let’s Go and Sword & Shield, that’s now a reality, but the open-world hankering remains. Legends: Arceus , which is now going back on its open world promise , might be the perfect middle gro

With CD Projekt Red's current major project, Cyberpunk 2077 , wrapping up and releasing soon, fans have been wondering what the company will be working on next. Considering how well the Witcher game trilogy has done for the company, it wouldn't be surprising if the next step forward was to work on a new Witcher game, possibly even following Ciri after the events of The Witcher 3 . Combine that with the fact that the author of the original Witcher books , Andrzej Sapkowski has extended his partnership with CD Projekt Red, and it looks very likely that a Witcher 4 may likely be on the way, possibly for Next-Gen conso

That doesn't mean Legends: Arceus will be like that, of course. Just this year, New Pokemon Snap has proved that Pokemon can still experiment with fantastic ways of constructing narratives through clever worldbuilding, but given the relative lack of innovation the Pokemon formula has had over the past 15 years or so, a full open world could have gone very wrong. The Wild Area was one of Gen 8’s biggest attempts at innovation, and it came with mixed results. A Monster Hunter Wilds patch notes|https://monsterwildlands.com/ Hunter-style game feels like open-world training wheels - but it also seems as if Pokemon can't be trusted to ride on its own just
