The other key issue addressed in Rare's developer update is cheating in Sea of Thieves . Despite only releasing a few weeks ago, the game reportedly already has a hacking problem, and Rare states that the studio considers dealing with this issue a top priority. The studio reiterated its banning policy, stating that any players caught cheating in the game would be banned straight a
A recent patch to Sea of Thieves already extended the game's ship respawn distance , preventing players from respawning their ship within sight of the ship that sunk them, but Rare states in the developer update that the studio has plans to improve that aspect of the game even further. Rare also wishes to address other problems with spawn-killing by adding in-game reminders to players of the "Scuttle" option, and possibly even moving ships to other world instances to avoid prolonged cases of spawn-kill
The multiplayer changes planned by Rare also including a matchmaking system that filters by microphone status and language, allowing players to prioritize matchmaking with other players who have the same microphone status as themselves, and who are speaking the same langu
Since its reveal at E3 2015, Sea of Thieves promised players an open and dynamic world to live out pirate fantasies of treasure hunting, drinking, and ship battling. The recent closed beta test gave fans a small taste of what to expect, though many were looking for more things to do in the world outside of sailing and finding treasure. While the full game promises to have more content, one aspect that Rare has been particularly tight-lipped about is the massive, ship destroying creature known as the Kra
Sea of Thieves developer Rare has published a full list of the game's 60 achievements (for a total of 1,000 points), but with a special pirate-y twist. Rather than explaining what players have to do to unlock the achievement, each one has been presented as a riddle. This adds a bit of fun to achievement hunting and lines up well with the upcoming co-op pirate game 's riddle-filled que
The promise of a mythical creature lurking somewhere out in the massive, sprawling ocean of Sea of Thieves , capable of pulling down boats is no doubt a thrilling prospect for many players. While the closed beta seems to have held a lot of content back, another recent datamine seems to indicate that the full game will have plenty more for prospective pirates to do. While new factions have already been revealed, new information reveals that the game will contain plenty of animals as well as a wider variety of creatures and enemies to fight. Players will likely be able to customize their ships with new flags, sails, and much more, as well as find new weapons, instruments, and food as w
Of course, if you are sailing about, it's best to do it with friends or other players in general, because playing alone is a massive chore. It wouldn't be that bad if you had a simpler vessel to get between islands, but even the smallest ships are still clearly built around having a crew to manage the sails, map, steering, anchor, cannons and more all at one. Unsurprisingly, trying to manage all of that at once just gets frustrating quickly and will lead to more than a few crashes the first time around. Heck, even if you are with other players, the Strategy Game Missions is based around being able to easily communicate with each other, so you had best all be on the same page if none of you want to get left behind.
Commendation achievements also double as Pirate Titles, and are unlocked when certain deeds are done within the game, such as completed a certain number of voyages or earning a particular amount of gold. These achievements range in difficulty from Grade 1 through Grade 5 and upon unlocking the fifth and final grade of Commendation in each set, a matching Pirate Title is awar
Rare then is shown to care deeply about bringing Banjo-Kazooie into Sea of Thieves in assorted ways. Rare's shown to have Banjo-Kazooie rewards in the works. And Rare has the opportunity to start a Banjo-Kazooie event in Sea of Thieves for the 20th anniversary if it so chooses. The stars could be align
Stories of the Kraken have existed as far back as E3 2016, but so far Rare has mostly managed to keep it hidden from the public. Alongside the dynamic storms that can hit players at any time , the Kraken is less of a boss and more of a thing in the game that can appear out of nowhere. The first sign of a Kraken is an inky mess in the water, but when and how it strikes is designed to be different each time and highly replayable. Unfortunately for players, it won't be easy as the creature is capable of picking up and tossing players in addition to damaging a ship or completely wrapping it up. Players may even find the destroyed remains of ships as well, presenting an opportunity to loot valuable che
Skeleton Captains (Bosses) - At the end of a Skeleton Fort raid, and on Order of Souls Voyages, Skeleton Captains will appear. These boss-style characters have unique names above their heads in red text and can absorb a lot of damage. You just have to grind them down with your crew if ship cannons and red barrels aren't available for the fi
