While Skate 4 's no-show could be part of a licensing problem - the game would feature a ton of music and clothing brands, after all - it's nonetheless disappointing that digital skaters have to stick with the last-gen entry if they want to enter the Hall of M
The combat is the most obvious example of Bug Fables borrowing liberally from Mario's roleplaying adventures. The way you attack enemies is dependent upon different timing sequences and button presses. Moves will require stopping an arrow inside of a meter or timing an attack by holding down the joystick until the right moment, and enemy attacks can be blocked by hitting the A button just as they hit you to reduce the damage you suffer. It's all very derivative, but excellent, and Bug Fables throws in enough of its own flair so it doesn't feel like a complete imitat
As Xbox rose to dominance in the Xbox 360 console generation, the console received so much third-party support that the number of first-party exclusives started a decline with Xbox having fewer of its own unique IP. By the time the current Xbox One generation came along, the lack of first-party support only seemed to increase. But in recent years, under the leadership of Phil Spencer, Xbox has acquired multiple studios to build out its exclusive game portfolio. This should start paying off in the next Series X generat
While there are only rumors to go on, the place a next-gen Fable would likely be announced is at Xbox's virtual Series X event planned for July that will include games from its first-party studios. While many people were disappointed with the recent Series X showcase event, it seems that the July event is what fans were hoping for. Xbox is expected to roll out Halo Infinite , plus a rumored Perfect Dark game, as well as Fab
Despite this flaw, it still manages to be one of the finest action games of the generation. It wasn't until Metal Gear Survive when the final nail was hammered into the coffin. A comeback is always possible, but Konami shows no signs of pursuing the franchise any furt
On the other end of that are games that dropped the morality system entirely, one example being Fallout 4. Ditching the Karma system wasn't a popular decision, but it did make players consider why they did what they did, rather than just making binary choices to fit the mold of a hero or villain. That's not an easy thing to accomplish, and unrooting players from a mechanic they've used for the better part of a decade is commendable, even if there's a notable shift in how well that change works. Morality in the game is by no means perfect, there were pointless decisions in Fallout 4 , and players were forced to play the hero in most situations, but it did make the smaller-scale decisions worthy of reflect
Xbox has shown that a freedom-driven, open-world experience can be accomplished with its first-party game Sea of Thieves from developer Rare (another UK-based studio like Playground Games, by the way). While Sea of Thieves had its own ups and downs, Rare successfully reinvented the game. Again, not that a next-gen Fable should copy Sea of Thieves , but hopefully learnings (and maybe even technology) from that game could be shared between Xbox's studios to influence Fable in a way that gives players that sense of freedom and helps the game achieve the grand RPG path that was originally envisioned with Project
EA announced a new Dragon Age months ago but hasn't revealed any major information about the game since then. It seems likely that EA and Bioware are waiting until the game is 100% ready to show anything off, especially after the disastrous launches of both Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem tarnished the reputation of BioWare, a studio once lauded for its masterful games. Nonetheless, the absence of Dragon Age was felt during the EA Play conference this year, forcing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to pick up most of the story-driven sl
That doesn't mean that horns can't sprout from a player's head if they become evil, but it shouldn't be one of two options. Instead, maybe beggars or peasants will help them in a village scuffle if they play a sort of Robin Hood archetype. There are plenty of different places it could go, and watching a character evolve with the world around them, with various aspects changing as the player makes decisions, would be an interesting twist on the Fable formula fans already know and l
The Mass Effect trilogy is a crowning achievement in gaming. These three titles came together to tell one epic story, and players' decisions in one game influenced events in the sequel. After wrapping up the trilogy, BioWare got to work on a successor, Mass Effect: Andromeda . This new story came out to a lackluster reception due to its buggy nature and unexciting gamep
It does present a new host of challenges for the game. Fable 2025 's abilities have been dependant on a character's alignment since the beginning, with evil characters getting bonuses to certain abilities and vice versa. The morality system is a defining element of the franchise, and arguably what players associate with it the most. Fundamentally changing it is going to be a difficult task, and one that not all players are going to l
